Who does the work?
Plumb & Co Pty Ltd, a Melbourne plumbing company. Its founder, Michael Borg, is a licensed plumber and gasfitter, Building and Plumbing Commission licence 110593. Blocked Burst Leaking takes your enquiry and passes it on; it does no plumbing itself, and your agreement is with Plumb & Co.
Is someone available at night and on weekends?
Plumb & Co takes urgent calls day and night, every day of the year, including public holidays, and aims to be on site within 2 hours of an urgent call.
Is there a call-out fee?
Yes. Plumb & Co charges a call-out fee of $150 plus GST on every attendance, whether or not you go ahead with the job, and the price of the job itself is given on site before work starts.
Is the blockage mine or the water corporation's?
It depends where it is. Your private drain runs from the house to the connection with the water corporation's sewer, and a blockage on your side is yours to clear. The plumber finds which side it is on first, and a fault in the corporation's pipe goes to the corporation.
I can smell gas. What do I do?
Follow Energy Safe Victoria's steps on the gas leaks page first: turn the gas off at the meter only if it is safe to, no flames or switches, open up, keep people away, and call the emergency number on your gas bill. If there is a fire, call Triple Zero.
